Toward a Consciousness of Peace

Make A Difference Photo

I am thinking about all of the innocent victims who lost their lives on this day twelve years ago, and my heart goes out to their families. I still get chills when I think about the heroism of those on United Airlines Flight 93 that crashed over a field in Pennsylvania. And the many firefighters, clergy, co-workers and other heroes — some we will never know about — who assisted others in need at the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. My hope is that all of these lives were not lost in vain.

Today I am feeling somber, and very small, and yet not at all insignificant. We all have a contribution we can make to this world. Three quotes surfaced this morning during my quiet time:

“To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders.” ~Lao Tzu

“No problem can be solved from the same consciousness that created it.” ~Albert Einstein

“Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.”~Dylan Thomas

We rage not with anger but with trust: a passionate trust in our vision for a peaceful planet. We rage with our enthusiastic commitment to making a difference. We rage by continuing to dream the dream and believing in a new life that has been calling to us from a future that is only certain if we do our part today. This kind of rage leads to breakthroughs that lead to new beginnings, new ways of perceiving, new levels of communication, and a whole new world.

Today I am holding to the light and holding to a consciousness of peace.
